FCA delays launch of anti-fraud e-commerce scheme by 18 months

Wednesday 14 August 2019 | 11:37 CET | News

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has agreed a plan for a phased implementation of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). This will give the payments and e-commerce industry more time to implement the new rules designed to improve payments security and limit fraud during the authentication process.

The new EU rules had been due to come into effect from 14 September 2019. The FCA has now agreed an 18-month plan to implement SCA with the e-commerce industry of payments firms, card issuers and online retailers.
