FCC agrees to advance USD 77 mln for Puerto Rico, USVI repairs

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has unanimously voted to immediately free up USD 76.9 million from its Universal Service Fund to pay for repairs of communication networks and restore services in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands following the devastating impact of Hurricanes Maria and Irma. In a statement, the FCC said around 88 percent of all mobile base stations in Puerto Rico and 67 percent in the US Virgin Islands were still out of service.
