FCC announces USD 400 mln in funding for Healthcare Connect

Tuesday 8 January 2013 | 21:05 CET | News
FCC chairman Julius Genachowski has announced USD 400 million in annual funding will be made available to healthcare providers as part of the FCC's new Healthcare Connect Fund. Beginning in 2013, the fund will spur the development of broadband networks to support modern telemedicine, which will link urban medical centres to rural clinics or provide instant access to health records. The fund expands the Commission's healthcare broadband initiative from pilot to programme. The FCC will begin accepting applications for the Healthcare Connect Fund beginning in late summer 2013.
