FCC approves lower orbit for next batch of Starlink satellites

Wednesday 28 April 2021 | 12:15 CET | News
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the request by SpaceX of putting its next batch of Starlink satellites into space at a lower altitude than its previously altitude of 1,100 km, CNBC reported. SpaceX made the request a year ago, as a modification to its Starlink satellite license, because it wants to launch its next batch of 2,814 satellites to an altitude under 570 km, after sending its first 1,584 satellites into an orbit of 1,100 km or above. Starlink has to date sent nearly 1,400 satellites into space.
