FCC approves USD 238 mln Puerto Rico and USVI mobile broadband funding

The Federal Communications Commission has approved USD 237.9 million in funding over three years to expand, improve and harden mobile broadband networks in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The funding includes USD 233.9 million to three operators serving Puerto Rico and USD 4 million to one operator serving the US Virgin Islands, with around USD 59.5 million specifically allocated to deploying 5G networks in the two territories, the first universal service funding the FCC has awarded anywhere in the country targeted for 5G deployment.
