FCC asks telcos to extend Keep Americans Connected pledge to end June

FCC chairman Ajit Pai has extended the Keep Americans Connected Pledge, announced in March, to end June. Under the pledge, over 700 broadband and telephone service providers gave a 60 day commitment to not terminate service to any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay their bills due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The pledge included other commitments, such as waiving any late fees for customers hit by pandemic problems. Finally, companies were asked to open Wi-Fi hotspots to all.
