FCC auction values 600 MHz spectrum at USD 86 billion

The FCC has completed the first stage of its incentive auction designed to convert broadcasting spectrum to mobile services. At the end of the first stage, a reverse auction for broadcasters to commit their frequencies, the FCC said that 126 MHz of licensed spectrum in the 600 MHz was available, valued at a total USD 86.42 billion. In the next stage, the forward auction, mobile operators and other companies can bid to acquire the spectrum.
