FCC calls for Apple to activate FM radio on smartphones after hurricanes

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Ajit Pai has called on Apple to activate the FM chips that are in iPhones to promote public safety. Pai noted that when wireless networks go down during a natural disaster, smartphones with activated FM chips would enable people to get vital access to life-saving information. He singled out Apple as the one major phone manufacturer that has resisted so far.
