FCC commissioner backs 28GHz for 5G, even if US stands alone

Monday 15 February 2016 | 11:27 CET | News
The US should accelerate its move to allow telecom operators to use 28 GHz spectrum to help the country win "the race to 5G", FCC commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel said at a 9 February conference on 5G hosted by wireless industry association CTIA. LightReading reports that the commissioner is advocating for the US to use this band for 5G even if the rest of the world will not. Rosenworcel said, "There are some places where when we look high, I believe the United States will need to go it alone. This includes the 28GHz band."
