FCC commissioner wants probe into Dish USD 3 bln subsidies

A Federal Communications Commission (FCC) member wants to investigate the more than USD 3 billion in subsidies Dish has claimed following the recent AWS-3 Auction, the Wall Street Journal reported. The US government set up a small-business discount programme for small companies wishing to take part in the auction. Dish spent USD 13.3 billion in winning bids, second behind AT&T's USD 18.2 billion in winning bids and before Verizon's USD 10.4 billion. It qualified for the discounts by bidding via a pair of partnerships that reported having less than USD 15 million in annual revenue. Its
