FCC eases subsidised broadband access during Covid-19 pandemic

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that Americans who have lost their employment during the coronavirus pandemic and who qualify for Lifeline benefits can now access subsidised broadband via the Lifeline programme. In view of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the FCC's Wireline Competition Bureau has temporarily waived the requirement that consumers seeking to qualify for the programme based on their income must provide at least three consecutive months of income documentation.
