FCC extends net neutrality exemption for small ISPs

The Federal Communications Commission announced that small ISPs will be exempt from reporting obligations under its 'Open Internet' order of 2015. This applies to providers with no more than 250,000 connections. Small providers had already benefitted from an exemption until December last year, and the FCC's new chairman Ajit Pai has said restoring this was a priority for him. The aim is to reduce their administrative burden so they can spend more time on expanding broadband services, the FCC said. It's also in line with proposals in Congress under the pending Small Business Broadband
