FCC said Sprint cheated Lifeline programme, taking millions without providing services

Sprint has been accused of fraudulent behaviour by the FCC, following an investigation by the Oregon Public Utility Commission into the carrier's practices with the Federal Lifeline programme, which provides subsidised mobile services for eligible low-income people and families. The FCC said Sprint claimed monthly subsidies for 885,000 Lifeline subscribers, worth "tens of millions" of US dollars, but these people were not using the service at all.
