FCC starts investigation into mobile carrier coverage maps used to give subsidies

Mobility Fund II was set up to allocate up to USD 4.53 billion over the next 10 year to build high speed mobile broadband service in rural areas that would not be served without government support. To draw the eligibility map, mobile providers were required to submit current and standardised coverage data, also using data from the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). The FCC then initiated a challenge process, giving interested parties the chance to challenge initial determinations that an area was ineligible for MF-II support.
