FCC starts looking at harmonising privacy rules

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said it will be holding a privacy roundtable on 28 April to begin examining a harmonised privacy framework across various telecom services. The FCC said the move follows its recent ruling that ISPs are common carriers under Title II internet regulation. The Commission now wants to see if it should use its newly-established authority to impose new consumer privacy protections.
