FCC studies restrictive contracts as part of merger probe

The FCC is investigating whether large US cable operators use special provisions in their contracts with media companies to prevent the latter from offering their programming at  the same time on the internet, the Wall Street Journal reports. The regulator has invited several big media groups, including Disney, 21st Century Fox and Time Warner, to discuss their concerns about such clauses. According to the report, it is widely expected that if the FCC approves the planned merger between Charter and Time Warner Cable, it will attach a condition to limit the use of these contract
