FCC updates spectrum caps

The US Federal Communications Commission has updated its rules limiting the amount of spectrum rights each company can hold. When analyzing mergers and acquisitions in the sector, the regulator continues to set a maximum of one-third of available spectrum in a given market for a single company. Beyond this limit, any proposed transaction will face greater scrutiny of its impact on competition. The Commission also added a trigger of over one-third of all low band, or sub-1GHz, spectrum in a market. This will be considered an "enhanced factor" in the competitive analysis of any proposed
