FCC wants USD 40 bln for broadcast reverse auction Stage 3

Monday 5 December 2016 | 11:36 CET | News
The FCC has completed the third stage of its broadcast reverse auction, setting a target price of USD 40.3 billion for 108 MHz of spectrum that would free up 80 MHz for wireless use. Bidders must meet that price in the third round to end the auction; otherwise the FCC will lower the amount of spectrum available and return to TV broadcasters to set a lower clearing cost in a fourth stage. Forward bidding for Stage 3 of the FCC's auction of 600 Mhz airwaves is expected to start this week, Fierce Wireless reported.
