Fewer Dutch TV subscribers in 2016, more revenues

The Dutch TV market contracted by 0.8 percent in 2016 to 7.4 million subscriptions, as growth in in digital TV was not enough to offset the loss of analogue subscribers. At the same time revenues from TV services rose 4.3 percent to EUR 1.79 billion, following price rises by the biggest providers, Ziggo and KPN. Ziggo ended 2016 with a share of 61 percent of TV revenues, a loss of 2.1 percent points compared to 2015. KPN accounted for 26.1 percent of TV revenues, up by 1.4 percent points.
