Fiber Broadband Assn, NTCA question Starlink capacity to deliver rural broadband

Tuesday 9 February 2021 | 11:48 CET | News
The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) and NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association have asked the FCC to consider their study on Starlink, and the satellote operator's capacity to fulfill its obligations under the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF). Starlink was awarded USD 886 million under the FCC fund to help bring broadband internet to rural areas in the US, and specifically to 640,000 locations. The FBA and NTCA, which represent competitors to the satellite service, said a study conducted for them by Cartesian puts in doubt the capacity of Starlink to reach this goal.
