Fibre-optic coverage reaches 34% of Italian population-study

Italian fibre-optic coverage has gradually improved to reach over a third (34 percent) of the Italian at the end of May, according to the latest update to the Ultrabroadband Survey conducted by Between-EY and published in Il Sole 24 Ore. The figure is five percentage points higher than the year-earlier result (29 percent) but still lags far behind the European average of 62 percent. A total of 169 Italian municipalities had fibre-optic coverage at the end of May, according to the survey, up from 127 at the end of 2014.
