Finnish firms using Office 365 e-mail fall victim to phishers and fraudsters

Finnish communications regulator Ficora said that e-mail theft affecting employees and directors of several Finnish companies in spring 2018 has caused substantial losses and expenses to many firms. Staff and executive credentials have been used in a number of cases of fraud and attempted fraud. Criminals have commonly phished for usernames and passwords of staff at companies using Office 365, and then used these credentials to log into corporate Office 365 email systems.

This is easy to combat. it comes down to getting the correct license mix and making sure that you have a business processes that manages the systems logs. No different then on premises equipment. Usually people get in trouble because they do not take security seriously.
