First smartphone with Beidou navigation launched in China

Shanghai Beidou Satellite Platform, Dongguan Techtotop Microelectronics Technology and smartphone vendor ZTE have launched the first smartphone featuring the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, reports the Beijing Times. The BeiDou system is a China-developed satellite positioning technology. The smartphone features the Beidou positioning IC developed by Dongguan Techtotop Microelectronics. BeiDou positioning technology is designed to reach a precision of 0.5-0.7m in open space and 3-5m in built-up areas.
