FNV union to fight to maintain jobs at Ziggo, Vodafone

Dutch union FNV said it's concerned about Ziggo and Vodafone's plans to merge their operations in the Netherlands. The FNV noted that many Ziggo employees are still feeling the consequences of the cable operator's takeover by UPC parent Liberty Global a year ago. Around 1,000 employees were made redundant as a result. Ziggo's latest quarterly results show that 600 jobs were cut, while the company also said when the merger with Ziggo was announced that some temporary and external contracts would not be continued. The company said it plans to add new jobs this year as part of efforts to focus
