Fon passes 7 mln hotspots
Wi-Fi provider Fon announced that its global network has passed 7 million hotspots. Since the start of this year, over 2 million hotspots have been added to the network, as many as in all of 2011. On 12 September to celebrate the milestone, the company held a contest on social networks to win free Fon routers. In addition to private individuals who agree to open their routers to Fon users, the company partners with a number of operators, including BT in the UK, which counts the largest number of Fon hotspots, and Belgacom in Belgium, which is growing the fastest.

Finnish company JoikuSpot's active user base exceeded 6 million users at the end of 2012, that is 2 million more than in March 2012.
