Ford to switch to BlackBerry for in-car system - report

Ford Motor is planning to switch from Microsoft's Windows to BlackBerry's next-generation Sync system for its in-car technology system, Bloomberg reported, citing people briefed on the matter who said that using QNX will be less expensive than licensing Microsoft technology and that it will improve the flexibility and speed of the next Sync system. Ford has more than 7 million vehicles on the road with Sync, using Microsoft voice-activated software to make mobile-phone calls and play music. The switch to a BlackBerry system may help Ford address customer complaints about malfunctioning
