Former Vodafone exec Humm joins ad-blocker Shine

Philipp Humm, the former CEO of Vodafone Europe, has joined the board of ad-blocking software developer Shine, the Financial Times reports. Shine's software blocks online ads on mobile devices and was adopted by Caribbean operator Digicel in September. Humm, who left Vodafone in October, said the software was attracting interest from other mobile operators looking to avoid the cost of carrying mobile ads. The software could be seen as a way to win customers, as consumers save mobile data by not having to download ads. According to Shine, ads account for around a fifth of mobile internet
