Four operators apply for spectrum auction in Hungary
Digi Telecommunications, Magyar Telekom, Telenor Hungary and Vodafone Hungary have applied to acquire additional mobile spectrum in Hungary, the National Media and Communications Authority (NMIAH) announced. The regulator will now have 15 days to validate their applications for participation in the bidding. 

The auction will offer nine packages of spectrum, in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2600 MHz and 26 GHz bands. The winning bidders will have the right to use the frequencies until 2034. The minimum price for the licences is HUF 104 billion.

Hungary raises HUF 130.6 billion in mobile spectrum auction

Hungary has raised a total HUF 130.6 billion (EUR 418 million) in the award of mobile spectrum in the 800, 900, 1,800 and 2,600 MHz frequency bands. This will help expand LTE services to new frequency ranges and auction off the remaining lots in the 900 and 1,800 MHz bands. Magyar Telekom will pay HUF 33.2 billion for lot A, including two blocks of paired spectrum in the 800 MHz band and one lot in the 2.6 GHz band. It also acquired two lots of 2x5 MHz in the 1,800 MHz band for respectively HUF 10.4 billion

Hungary confirms 4 bidders in spectrum auction

Hungary's National Media and Communications Authority (NMIAH) has qualified four bidders for the upcoming multi-band spectrum auction. All four applicants - Digi Telecommunications, Magyar Telekom, Telenor Hungary and Vodafone Hungary qualified to bid for the frequencies and were registered with the regulator. Hungarian virtual market has room for growth

T-Mobile Hungary is the largest MNO with 46 percent of the total, followed by Telenor Hungary with 31 percent and Vodafone Hungary with 23 percent. Together they had 11.5 million mobile subscribers in May 2014, of which 11.1 are active subscriptions. Mobile penetration is 117 percent. Virtual Operators account for 4 percent of the subscriptions of the total mobile market and 6% of the revenues.

Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has announced a tender for mobile frequencies, setting a 16 June deadline for applications to participate.
