Four operators mull mobile licence in Peru

The Peruvian Agency for Promotion of Private Investment (ProInversion) has announced that Viettel Telecom and Winner Systems have pre-qualified for the fourth mobile licence tender to be launched in Peru, state news service Andina reports. Peru will award a mobile licence in the 1900 MHz frequency band, also known as the C-band. The tender winner will have to invest around USD 150 million in the network development and service launch. Vietnamese military-owned telecommunications provider Viettel Telecom, and Wynner Systems, Mera Networks' Peruvian subsidiary, will compete against the earlier pre-qualified Americatel and Hits Telecom. The final version of the concession agreement approved by ProInversion board will be published on 6 January.
