France expects Google to pay back much more than in UK - FM

France has decided to not try to reach a settlement with Google over back taxes, reports the Financial Times. Finance minister Michel Sapin said the GBP 130 million deal struck by Google and the UK government, "seems more the product of a negotiation than the application of law." He added, "The French tax administration does not negotiate the amount of taxes owed." The minister said Google's payment to France would be "way bigger" than that to the UK. US groups have complained to the US government that they are being treated unfairly by the EU and its member states. Sapin rejected the claim
