France, Italy and Poland offer cheapest mobile services - study

A benchmark report comparing seven countries found that mobile users in France, Italy and Poland benefit from the cheapest retail prices for a SIM-only voice and data plan with a 50 GB allowance. The finding is part of the latest annual research commissioned by French telecom federation FFTelecoms from consultancy Arthur D. Little.

Carried out in September, the study confirmed last year’s results, placing France and Italy as the markets with the lowest monthly subscription charges for the benchmark mobile plan (EUR 14 up from EUR 12 in late 2019, for both countries). Poland has replaced the UK in third position (EUR 17 and EUR 22 respectively), followed by Spain (EUR 36), Germany (EUR 45), and the US market (EUR 68).

In the fixed broadband segment, Poland remained the country with the least expensive triple-play offering, when looking at packages bundling uncapped internet, "unlimited" calls and TV (EUR 15/month, down from EUR 16/month in late 2019). For French households, the cheapest package was EUR 25/month, up from EUR 24/month in last year’s benchmark.
