France praises EC's 'pragmatic' approach to internet sector

The French government has welcomed the European Commission's "pragmatic" approach towards internet platforms in its updated directive. Les Echos writes that France is in a difficult place because fourteen Member States expressed their opposition to regulation that would affect internet giants uniformly across the EU. It wants to avoid being seen as the country that tried to kill innovation giants in Europe. On the contrary, digital affairs minister Axelle Lemaire said France wants an "open internet".
