Monday 25 March 2013 | 10:37 CET | News
The French government has set the financial terms for the refarming of 1800MHz spectrum from 2G to LTE, a move sought by Bouygues Telecom and authorised by telecom regulator Arcep. Bouygues will be able to start using its 2G spectrum for 4G service from 1 October. AFP reports that it will have to pay an annual fixed fee of EUR 3,231 per KHz allocated, on a prorata basis of the population of the zones covered by the authorisation. The operator will also have to pay an annual variable fee of 1 percent of its revenues from 4G services. Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free already paid EUR 3.5 billion
