France Telecom mulls asset strategy for Portugal, Austria

France Telecom is reviewing the future of its European portfolio with a focus on its minority stakes in Portugal and Austria, chairman and CEO Stephane Richard told Bloomberg. During the e-G8 Forum. The CEO added that it was looking at assets in "one or two more countries." France Telecom said earlier that it was examining options including mergers, network-sharing deals, or outright sales of operations in Europe, excluding France, Poland and Spain. The operator owns a 35 percent stake in Orange Austria, and a 20 percent holding in Sonaecom SGPS, owner of Portugal's smallest mobile-phone
