Fraud, data privacy concerns growing as cashless society expands - study

Thursday 12 April 2018 | 15:23 CET | News
As prospects of a cashless society become more real, people in Europe are worrying more about fraud, security and data privacy, according to a study from Orborne Clarke. Around 81 percent of people in the EU are worried about fraud in a cashless society, a 12 percentage point increase from the year before. A good three quarters (76%) worry they will be sharing too much data if cash is completely replaced by mobile payments, an increase of 25 percentage points from the year before. Around 80 percent also showed concern about security breaches.
