FreedomPop to develop Wi-Fi smartphone with Intel

FreedomPop plans to launch its own smartphone as part of its new partnership with Intel. The smartphone running Intel's Sofia mobile chipset is designed to show off the chip's ability to switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. FreedomPop will offer the phone with its 'free' mobile service, which comes with access to around 8 million hotspots across the US, FreedomPop CEO Stephen Stokols told Forbes. He noted that only around 10 percent of mobile data traffic goes over the LTE network, while consumers are still paying a significant amount for only a small amount of their time on
