French competition authority orders review of Google Ads rules for directory enquiry services

The French competition watchdog has issued an interim ruling in favour of directory enquiry service Amadeus, in a dispute between the company and the Google Ads online advertising platform. A complaint from Amadeus prompted an investigation, which has led to a number of interim measures being taken against Google. In particular, the watchdog fears that the practices of Google Ads might be considered as an abuse of a dominant position, by failing to provide non-discriminatory access to its platform.
