French consumer association labels national target for FTTH roll-out as 'unrealistic'

Wednesday 27 September 2017 | 10:42 CET | News
Consumer association UFC-Que Choisir has published a new study on the quality of fixed broadband services in France, urging the government and telecom regulator Arcep to take action on the digital divide in rural areas and to refrain from increasing the prices of ADSL services. The association also believes that the national target to bring FTTH connectivity to 80 percent of the population by 2022 is "unrealistic", arguing that it will only be achieved in 2035 if the current rate of deployment is maintained.
