French consumer rights association files GDPR complaints against internet giants

La Quadrature du Net, a French non-profit association campaigning on the rights of internet users, said that it has filed five collective complaints with national data protection agency Cnil against Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google (Gmail, Youtube, Search), and LinkedIn. The move follows a campaign launched in mid-April to gather support for collective action under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which took effect on 25 May. The association said that the campaign was joined by 12,000 supporters over six weeks.
