French govt allocates EUR 620 mln to fibre roll-out

The French government has announced EUR 620 million in new funding for local fibre networks. The funding will go to 17 so-called public initiative networks (RIP), supported by local authorities. The prime minister's office said around a quarter of the population would benefit from the improved broadband services.
