French govt faces challenge from trade union over 5G auction

The French government has been accused of disregarding the defence of jobs in the telecom sector with the legal texts published to pave the way for the country's 5G auction. Trade union CFE-CGC Orange has launched an appeal with the country's highest court (Conseil d'Etat) to revoke the government decree published at the end of December, as well as the related decision issued by telecom regulator Arcep. This is on the grounds that both texts fail to link the development of 5G to the protection of employment, in breach of the French electronic communications code (CPCE).
