French govt wants faster connections nationwide by 2020

French President Emmanuel Macron has outlined his vision for the country's future broadband strategy in a speech on 17 July during a conference dedicated to regional development, reports Les Echos. A key point in the speech was that the government would favour the rapid deployment of faster broadband speeds in under-served areas with the help of alternative technologies. In particular, Macron wants to see all households with improved connectivity by 2020 and his government is currently holding a series of meeting with the country's main telecom players to discuss what financial and fiscal
