Monday 9 December 2013 | 08:19 CET | News
French telecom and IT industry associations have reacted strongly against Article 13 of the new military planning bill that would give the police and ministry of finance unlimited direct access to private data without a court order on grounds of organised crime, crime or the preservation of "France's scientific and economic potential", writes Les Echos. Until now, this type of intrusion could only be made for the purpose of anti-terrorism. The bill due to be debated by the Senate on 10 December would affect data held by ISPs, internet hosts and other online companies.
