French parliament adopts law to introduce security checks on 5G networks

The French parliament adopted the law that was prompted by increased scrutiny over the security of 5G networks. The government has acted to increase its own vetting powers, following an international debate that has put Chinese group Huawei in the spotlight. With a final vote in the Senate, the new legislation passed in the revised version put forward by a joint parliamentary committee. The amended legislation was welcomed by mobile operators after the government's initial stance attracted strong criticism from the industry.
