French railway company SNCF to open up fibre network with wholesale offering – report

Monday 13 January 2020 | 10:46 CET | News
France's state-owned railway company SNCF could soon enter the wholesale broadband market by giving small regional telecom operators access to its 20,000 km fibre network, according to information gathered by Les Echos. SNCF's fibre assets have so far only been available externally as a dark fibre product, which required operators to invest in their own equipment. With this new project, the company would start selling active fibre access on a wholesale basis and compete with the established players in this market segment.
