French senators seek new powers for Arcep to champion open internet on end-user devices

Wednesday 23 October 2019 | 10:38 CET | News
The French Senate will ask the government to support draft legislation to expand the remit of telecom authority Arcep, reports Les Echos. The proposed law supports the watchdog's view that regulation is required to bring down the barriers undermining the right to access a neutral internet for consumers. This approach was laid out by Arcep in an in-depth report published in February 2018 and in the recommendations made eight months later for the planned reform of the country's audio-visual service law.
