French tax office to sue Google for EUR 1 bln - report

France's tax office has decided to fine Google EUR 1 billion after investigating the company's tax strategies, reports French weekly Le Point. Tax inspectors had examined Google's offices in Paris in June 2011 as part of an investigation into transfer pricing between the company's divisions. This common tactic involves identifying net loss or profit in a country before paying taxes in a territory with low corporate taxes. Paris office declared EUR 192.9 million of revenue in France in 2012, earning EUR 8.3 million of profit and paying EUR 6.5 million of taxes. Google has diminished the amount
