Fujitsu delivers 5G base station products to Japan's Docomo

Fujitsu has announced that it has started delivery of 5G base station products, comprising a Central Unit and Radio Unit, to Japanese operator NTT Docomo. The 5G Central Unit uses software-defined radio technology, which enables the implementation of different wireless technologies on the same hardware. According to Fujitsu, this makes it possible to deploy 5G network using existing 3G, LTE, and LTE-Advanced base stations with minimum hardware changes.
