HUTCHISON Whampoa's 3G unit in Italy is reported to have run out of handsets for the first time since it launched in March. There were 300,000 users registered in Italy at the end of last month, and it said it had ordered 1.5 million new 3G phones. 3 Italia chief executive Vicenzo Novari said that if it had 500,000 handsets, it would have had 500,000 clients.
