GCC mobile phone shipments dip slightly in Q3, smartphone value falls 12%

The overall mobile phone market in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region had a very slight quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) decline of 0.2 percent in Q3 to 4.97 million units in Q3, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). Smartphone shipments declined 0.9 percent to 4.16 million units, and feature phone shipments increased 4.1 percent to 800,000 units. In terms of value, the smartphone market totaled USD 1.16 billion in Q3, an 11.6 percent QoQ decline.
